The University of Minho is located in northern Portugal, with campuses in the cities of Braga and Guimarães. It comes forth as a University of Projects (of research, teaching, and interaction with society), structured upon a matrix-based model which promotes interaction among its units (organic, cultural, services and specialised) and which favours multi and interdisciplinary approaches. The basic structures are the teaching and research units: Sciences, Engineering, Education, Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Economics and Management, Law, Medicine, Nursing, Architecture, and Psychology. UMinho further created a set of interfaces that provide support to knowledge transfer, in addition to having several participating interests in a number of structures that generate important entrepreneurial dynamics. UMinho offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, leading to a degree, but also specialised training courses and advanced study courses. UMinho is a research university, committed to the valorisation of knowledge and also focused on the socio-economic environment, with many successful partnerships. Internationalisation is a strong commitment and international activities are quite intense. Quality has always been the hallmark of UMinho. The institutional policy for quality encompasses a formal internal quality assurance system, which covers the different dimensions of the institutional mission and systematically ensures the quality of its activities.
