Wageningen University & Research (WUR) is a Dutchpublic university in Wageningen, Netherlands. It consists of Wageningen University and the former agricultural research institutes (Dienst Landbouwkundig Onderzoek (DLO)) of the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture. Wageningen University: In 1876, the state takes over the local council's Agricultural College in Wageningen: the start of National Agricultural Education in The Netherlands. DLO: In 1877, foundation of the first agricultural research station in Wageningen (predecessor to the current research institutes)
