The University of Sulaimani (UoS), founded in 1968, is one of the largest public universities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. In 1981, the former Iraqi regime moved this higher education academic institution to Erbil (Hawler) by force and changed its name to the University of Salahaddin. In 1992, the University of Sulaimani was rebuilt by tremendous efforts of many Kurdish intellectuals and academics. The University of Sulaimani is committed to providing a transformative education that empowers everyone to use their full potential and make a positive impact on the local community and possibly the world. We strive to create a dynamic and inclusive learning community where students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds can engage in rigorous intellectual inquiry, personal growth, and professional development. Our mission is to work for lifelong learning and a passion for discovery through innovative teaching, cutting-edge research, and meaningful service to the community. We seek to cultivate leaders who are creative, ethical, and committed to making a difference in their fields and in the broader global community. By promoting critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and social responsibility, we aim to empower graduates to be well-equipped in addressing the complex challenges facing our society and to contribute to a more just and sustainable world.
