Established in 1724, St. Petersburg University (SPbU) is the oldest higher education institution in Russia. Today, St. Petersburg University is the leading scientific, educational and cultural centre of a global significance with more then 5,000 academic staff members and about 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
SPbU is located in the heart of St. Petersburg, cultural capital of Russia which was recognized as one of Russia’s biggest centers of education. In addition to the university unites 25 degree-granting schools, institutes and departments, as well as 2 colleges, gymnasiums and the department of physical training and sports. It is also home to one of the oldest and largest university libraries in Russia.
St. Petersburg University offers about 400 degree programs, over 800 non-degree programs and more than 100 online courses in Russian and English in areas of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Physics, Humanities, Mathematics and Computer Sciences, Economics and Management, Art and Culture, Physical Training and Sport.
SPbU is also the world-class scientific center, including dozens of laboratories, as well as a Science Park, in which unique modern equipment is combined with technological capabilities for research.
