The University of Tübingen, officially the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen , is a German public research university located in the city of Tübingen, Baden-Württemberg , located in southwestern Germany. Count Eberhard the Bearded, later Duke of Württemberg and Teck, founded the University in 1477. Today’s official name - Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen - was given to the University in 1769 by Duke Karl Eugen, who added his own moniker. There are currently 7 faculties at the University.
